When it comes to being with someone romantically we have to be willing to compromise and care for one another. While sometimes this will come with a lot of struggle, usually it shouldn’t leave you feeling used.
Far too often in this day and age, we settle in life and in love to the point where we allow the people we care the most about to use us for their own benefit. Rather than being in a true partnership, we waste our energies caring for someone who refuses to do the same for us. If you feel like you and your lover are not on the same page perhaps you’re not right for one another.
Below I am going to go over some signs that might indicate you’re giving your all to someone who refuses to even give you the proper time of day. When we find that this kind of thing is happening, cutting ties and remembering our own worth is crucial. You are no maid and you should always keep that in mind.
12 Signs That Your Partner Is Using You:
1. Your partner makes you feel used.
Your partner should not be making you feel used. If you feel used then chances are you’re being used. You should be able to sit down with your partner and talk this kind of thing out if you cannot then you should take that as a red flag.
2. Your partner often makes you feel uncomfortable.
When we are with someone who makes us uncomfortable the entire atmosphere of things changes. You feel very on edge when your partner is around and are not able to be yourself. Is this really what you think you need in a relationship?
3. Your partner never thinks about your needs.
You have needs just like your partner does and if he/she is only thinking about what he/she wants or needs there is a serious disconnect. Your needs must be met above all else, if you’re falling through the cracks you have a serious issue on hand. Don’t let anyone make you feel inferior or unimportant as a whole.
4. Your partner is only nice when he/she wants something.
If your partner is only nice to you when he or she wants something then you should be aware that you’re being used. They are only nice to get what they want, and then they revert to being mean all over again. This kind of cycle should never be allowed.
5. Your partner makes you afraid to say ‘no.’
When you’re in a relationship you should feel understood and free to express yourself. You shouldn’t be scared to tell your lover no or afraid to disagree with him/her. This is not how things should be working.
6. Your partner never remembers the important things.
Your partner should remember the most important things about you and about your relationship together. Sure, we all forget things from time to time but if he/she is unable to remember even just something as simple as your birthday perhaps it’s time to leave. You deserve better than this.
7. Your partner is selfish in the bedroom.
If your partner refuses to take the time to please you in the bedroom there is something seriously lacking between the two of you. Your partner is being extremely selfish and you are both on very different pages. You deserve the intimacy that you crave, period.
8. Your partner neglects you to spend time with his/her friends.
If you’re in a relationship that leaves you feeling like you’re being neglected then you’re in the wrong relationship. Your partner should be able to spend time with friends, of course, but you shouldn’t be feeling as though you never see your partner as a result. You both have to be willing to make time for one another.
9. Your partner doesn’t make an effort to resolve the problems between the two of you.
You and your partner are unable to talk out the issues that come up within your relationship. He or she refuses to sit down and get to the bottom of things. Rather than communicating properly your partner merely closes his or herself off and leaves you in silence.
10. Your partner never follows through with anything.
If your partner never does the things he/she says he/she will do you need to consider leaving. While it might not seem like much, you deserve someone reliable. When a person says that they’re going to do something, they should do exactly that.
11. Your partner lies to you.
If your partner is constantly lying to you, you don’t have much of a relationship at all. You are being manipulated and treated wrongfully. This needs to end. Allowing this kind of thing to continue is only furthering the amount of time that you are getting used.
12. Your partner doesn’t like to talk to you much if at all.
While your partner might be a bit reserved, if he or she doesn’t like to talk to you at all there is something wrong. Why would you be with someone that doesn’t want to even speak to you on a daily basis? Could you really live a life with someone like this?
